W.D. Wright Contracting has immediate openings for the position of Traffic Control Technician (TCT). We are currently conducting interviews and encourage applicants to apply!!

Traffic control technicians work with construction teams to ensure that automobiles and pedestrians do not interfere with, or pose a danger to, laborers and their projects. There are no formal education requirements for traffic control technicians; however a high school diploma is preferred. A valid driver's license is required and employees must maintain likewise throughout employment. Candidates must become certified in basic traffic safety techniques by attending a training class provided by W.D. Wright Contracting.

The TCT must create a safe work zone that ensures that traffic does not cause a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic control technicians must constantly be aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory. The TCT must be able to work in all weather conditions and stand for long periods of time. Excellent communication skills are a necessity. The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. is required.

The Traffic Control Technician reports to the Operations Manager / Project Manager and responsibilities include:
- Setup, maintain and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, and rumble strips according
   to ATSSA and DOT regulations.
- Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle.
- Drive the company vehicle to and from job sites in a safe manner.
- Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Keep company vehicles clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems.
